Langdale is a place where lasting memories are created, and the passion and commitment shown by its owners towards this special part of the Lake District is truly unique – something everyone connected with the resort can be proud of.
However, there may come a time when ownership is no longer required, and when that time comes, the support and guidance of the Langdale Owners’ Club (LOC) can help make the process as straightforward as possible.
The management company are currently supporting some owners who can no longer visit with the rental and sale of their timeshare weeks. In some rare circumstances owners need the option to exit their timeshare ownership obligation at Langdale.
The LOC Committee and the management company have been working together to make available an option for owners to surrender or relinquish their timeshare week(s) when their circumstances make ownership challenging. We are now able to publish the details of the surrender scheme which is now open to qualifying owners.
In summary the qualification for consideration to relinquish weeks is as follows:
The above criteria go most of the way towards meeting the timeshare industry best practice set out by the Resort Development Organisation.
The surrender option will at this time be relevant to very few owners but will hopefully provide a safety net for those in need of help and support at a difficult time.
Weeks that are relinquished will be transferred to LOC who will use the self-catering rental services of the management company to rent out the weeks. All proceeds received by the owners’ club will be used to cover the management fees for the surrendered weeks which will minimise the financial exposure of the club. The number of weeks surrendered in the first year will be capped to minimise any potential financial impact on the ownership at Langdale.
The surrender scheme will be reviewed annually and an update for owners will be provided to coincide with the AGM. The review will consider the feedback from owners, take up and financial impact on the club amongst other factors. The scheme will be capped at twenty weeks for the first year.
Any owners that are no longer able to use weeks who do not fall within the scope of the surrender scheme will continue to be supported by the management company as they are now.
